IMPORTANT NOTICE:  Our fishery at Jonkershoek closed down at the end of the 2010 fishing season.

Jonkershoek Flyfishing has its roots in the most picturesque Jonkershoek valley, just outside Stellenbosch, where the Jonkershoek flyfishery offered superb flyfishing for both the experienced and the novice angler. The flyfishery operated from the oldest trout hatchery in Southern Africa, started in 1892.

The fishery closed down at the end of the 2010 fishing season, but a beautiful section of the Eerste River is still accessible where one can target wild rainbow trout.  The best fishing time on the river is during summer, out of spawning season.  Booking for the river is essential.

Equipment can be hired.  Our staff offer advice and tuition on request. Fly casting and fishing clinics are run on a regular basis and private tuition can be arranged.

GUIDING and TRAVEL

Jonkershoek Flyfishing also offer a full guiding service at Jonkershoek.  We can take you to some of the finest privately owned waters in the Western Cape and in South Africa.  Should your target be wild trout in pristine rivers, trophy trout in stillwaters, yellowfish or any of the salt water species, we offer several packages to suite your needs and also your pocket.
